PIRATE ELITE
The "Pirate Football Elite" recognizes those special group of Pirate Football players who have excelled in strength and conditioning. There are two ways student-athletes may achieve "Elite" status:
1000 pounds or more total weight lifted
or
minimum relative strength rating
The formula used to calculate our rating for relative strength is as follows:
(SQUAT + CLEAN + BENCH) divided by BODY WEIGHT
The minimum rating needed for "Elite" status is based upon body weight, national standards, and recommendations of our football staff. We will facilitate athletic performance tests 3-4 times per year. Student-athletes may only earn "Elite" status during the scheduled testing sessions. Once a student-athlete has reached "Elite" status, they must achieve the minimum strength rating during the next testing session to remain a member of the "Pirate Football Elite".
Each member of this special group will receive an "Elite" T-shirt. Member names and rankings will also be posted on the website and in the upcoming season's football game program.
