EXPECTATIONS OF

PIRATE FOOTBALL PLAYERS

• Keep your priorities in order (faith, family, academics, football, social-life).
• Have a positive attitude at all times.
• Do what is right, always!
• Be a CHAMPION on and off the field.
• Give 100% of your effort and do your best!
• Represent the program with great character.
• Do nothing to embarrass yourself or others.
• Never steal, cheat, or lie.
• Respect teachers and coaches with “yes Ma’am, yes Sir”.
• Treat others as you would like to be treated.
• Do not bully or harass anyone.
• No inappropriate conversation or remarks.
• No fighting or foul language.
• Be where you are supposed to be, doing what you are supposed to do, when you are supposed to do it.
• Take care of your body and mind like an athlete.
• Hydrate properly. If you are thirsty, drink.
• Eat 3 balanced meals every day with 2-3 snacks between each meal.
• Love to lift weights, run fast, move quick, and be powerful.
• Get plenty of rest and recuperation after workouts (8 hours).
• Strive for straight A’s.
• Maintain your grades.
• Keep your locker area neat and organized.
• No horse-play in the locker room.
• No food or drink on team bus that is not cleared with a coach.
• No trash left on the bus. It will be cleaner when we get off.
• Observe the “uniform code”.
• Keep your jersey tucked in.
• Your pants are pulled up on and off the field.
• Do not wear jewelry at a football function.
• Never remove helmet or other gear without permission.
• Never engage in physical contact without a coach’s permission.
• Know your football assignments.
• When a coach is talking keep eye contact.
• No talking when a coach is teaching.
• Always give your best effort.
• Put the team first.
• Defend the mission and vision of the program.
• Do not damage school or team property.
• Do not use drugs, tobacco or alcohol.
• Do not be at a function where drugs or alcohol are being used.
• Do not get in a car with someone who has consumed booze/beer/drugs.
• Show passion for the game at all times.
• No walking on the field, run everywhere. Hustle!
• You’ve got the MOJO (unexplainable power), so bring it every day.
• Win with class, don’t be a sore loser, and do not be a bad winner.
• Make big plays in practice.
• When you score, act like you have been there before and that you'll be right back.
• Hit or be hit.
• Respect your opponent. Knock him down, help him up, and knock him down again.
• Be relentless! Never quit!
• Love your team, your school, your football program.
• Be a role model for the future student-athlete’s of the program.
